Thai Vehicle Output Hits Record High, Oct Exports +79.7%

FOX NEWS / DOW:

Thailand's vehicle production hit a record high level in October, while vehicle exports also surged significantly due to a low base of comparison from last year, the Federation of Thai Industries said Friday.

The on-year rebound in vehicle production and exports came after severe floods last year disrupted the operations of a number of automakers and led to plunging figures in October 2011. Tax incentives for first-time car buyers also prompted strong demand for vehicles, driving up production, the federation said.

Production increased to 252,165 vehicles in September, 8.4% more than in September and more than five folds from the same period last year, the federation said in a statement.

For a few dollars more….

With labor day approaching quickly – here are 2 statistics on the Thailand Automotive Labour Situation. Unemployment is nearly non-existent in Thailand (index mundi / World Bank estimate is 1% since 2005).

With the planned growth from 2M to 3M vehicles Thailand faces a serious shortage of workers, the effect of which is worsened by a high volatility. In the current market there are hundreds and thousands of new jobs available and many of the best trained employees decide to change their employer 'for a few dollars more'.

The Automotive Industry in Thailand is challenged to develop more workers, implement additional training programs and deploy automation systems in order to meet production & quality goals over the next years.

Thai Auto Book 2012 – almost ready for global launch

The purpose of this publication is to promote the Thai Auto Industry to international professionals – both for outsourcing (buying from Thailand) as well as for localization (setting up a manufatcuring footprint in Thailand).

I know that there are already a number of institutions dealing with this matter (BOI, TAI, TAPMA etc etc) however, I have never seen a really comprehensive and transparent overview of all OEM's, Tier 1s, organizations and supporting industry in this country.

So that's what I am trying to do. With modern technology to make this not just 'another directory' but a gorgeous presentation of the Thai AUto Industry with interactive content, presentations, video, infografics etc.

Do you own an iPad? If yes, I would be pleased to send you a link to download a 'preview' copy – and I would be very interested in your feedback. Just email me at ulikaiser8@gmail.com….
